METHODS OF COMMUNICATION
We communicate with whanau in the following ways:
Facebook Group Chat - for Kura Panui and weekly overviews.
Facebook Page - for uploading photos and sharing kura experiences.
Kura Website - for letting the world know who we are.
Te Karere o Pawarenga - for sharing kura news, advertisements and panui in the Pawarenga newsletter.
Kura Newsletters - for updating our whanau on key dates and events at kura.
Live Reporting - So you know what your child is learning and the progress they are making.
Whanau Hui - monthly meetings for plannign and progressing our kura.
MATA NGARO - ABSENCE
If your child is absent, please:
1). Email reason of absence to: abesent@pawarenga.school.nz
or
2). Phone the kura office.
KA ORA, KA AKO - FREE LUNCHES IN SCHOOLS
Te Kura a Iwi o Pawarenga participates in the Ka Ora, Ka Ako healthy school lunches programme. This means every student receives a free lunch, every day.
The program aims to reduce food insecurity by providing access to a nutritious lunch in school every day. By September 2021, over thirty million lunches have been served in 873 schools to over 205,000 learners.
In 2019, the Government announced a two-year initiative to explore delivering a free and healthy daily school lunch to Year 1–8 (primary and intermediate aged) students in schools with high levels of disadvantage. Providing a lunch to all students in participating schools will make sure that everyone who needs a free lunch gets one and will minimise any stigma that sometimes comes with receiving free meals. Programmes that target on the basis of individual need also require a process to confirm eligibility. This can add costs and complexity and discourage eligible families from taking part, meaning some children needing lunch will miss out.
KIA MANAWANUI TE WHANAU KI TE KAUPAPA
- WHANAU COMMITMENT
Whanau entering our kaupapa are required to sign a memorandum of agreement. Our whanau agree to commit to the following:
Support the kaupapa of kura a-iwi, this means my child/ren and our whanau will participate in all kura events and kaupapa.
Attend whanau hui every month (at least one person from your whare must attend)
Learn / speak te reo Maori at home
Aim for 95% attendance
Adhere to the kura values
NAU MAI, URU MAI - ENROLMENT INFORMATION
Te Kura a Iwi o Pawarenga is the tribal kura of Te Uri o Tai. There is no 'zone' that enables or disables a child from attending our kura. Rather, enrolments are first and foremost based on a child's whakapapa to Te Uri o Tai.
Our enrolment process is as follows:
1). Whanau enquires
2). Whanau invited to attend Enrolment Interview
3). Transition Program (if necessary) prepared
4). Enrolment forms returned
5). Powhiri & student begins kura
